Simple Joys!

Hooray!! The mail arrived!! No, not Shawn's disability, not yet! But all the mail that had been stuck up North finally made its way down here! With it came a small check for Kate Lynn, it was her sick and vacation time from Lowe's. We were all very excited! The poor Mail guy probably thought we were all just a little crazy! He hasn't been greeted the way we greeted him, well probably ever! The super thing was that with her check we are able to fill up the cupboards and refrigerator some more! We made a couple splurges, and when I say splurge that would be an overstatement! We bought an electric can opener,$10 at Big Lots, my Carpal Tunnel could not make that camping can opener work! And because it was Kate Lynn's check and the girls have been asking since we came South, we went to Sonics for dinner. For everyone who has no idea, it is all drive in style ordering, you look at the menu, push the button, place your order and someone rolls out on rollers skates with your food! We ordered the heart attack special! Toasted chicken club, that would be  breaded chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo between 2 pieces of toast and an order of fries! Yummy, fattening! IT was very inexpensive and well worth girl's smiles! It is these small things we take for granted that we are now finding the most joy in! I can not tell you how much I love my new can opener! Because we were able to put gas in the truck, we decided to take the girls out window shopping, make plans on their new rooms. With the cold weather and drizzle though, most businesses were closed or closed early. Shawn was explaining to me that they do not have sanders or salt trucks, they come from up North, so when the roads  are icy  they are unable to treat them. Everyone here shuts themselves up at home until the roads are better. A little strange to me, because this isn't weather we would concern ourselves with in New Hampshire. I have lots to learn! So we are back at home, bellies quite full, looking at our mail (there is nothing that exciting!) and relishing the fact that is one less worry we have! When you strip it all away it is all about  the simple joys!
